POLICIES
Watford Repair Café (WRC) – Terms & Conditions
Before taking part, please read the following carefully
By participating in the WRC, all visitors and participants agree to these Terms.
WRC reserves the right to refuse items which it feels are dangerous or unsafe.
Ownership of Items
- By attending, you confirm that the item you bring is yours or that you have permission from the owner to have it repaired.
Visitor Responsibilities
- You must stay with your item at all times — both while waiting and during the repair. Do not leave items unattended.
- Visitors are responsible for ensuring their items are safe to handle and repair.
- Visitors must inform volunteers of any potential risks or hazards associated with their items.
- Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
- The WRC encourages you to take part and learn during the repair process — please follow any safety instructions given by volunteers.
The Repair Service
- All repairs are carried out for free by the WRC volunteer repairers.
Guarantees, Warranties and Liability
- The WRC cannot guarantee that repairs will be successful.
- There is always a risk of damage during the repair process.
- By taking part, you accept this risk, acknowledging that no warranties or guarantees are provided.
- Repairers are not required to repair every item or put it back together if a repair isn’t possible.
- In all cases you are responsible for taking the item home (and disposing of it properly).
- You release the WRC, its organisers, and volunteers from all liability for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, defects of malfunctions arising (during or after) repairs performed at the WRC.
- The WRC is not liable for injuries, damages, or losses sustained by visitors or their property at the WRC.
- The limitations on liability set out above do not supersede your protection under applicable consumer protection legislation.
Parts and Materials
- If the repair needs new parts or materials, you will need to cover the cost.
- The WRC repairers will provide advice on what to buy if anything is needed.
One item per person
- To keep waiting times short, the WRC can only repair one item at a time per person. If you bring a 2nd item, you’ll need to rejoin the queue once the first item has been repaired.
Respect and Behaviour
- The WRC is run entirely by volunteers. We do not tolerate any harassment, aggression, or abuse toward our team or other visitors. Anyone behaving inappropriately will be asked to leave immediately, along with their item.
If you’re unhappy with a repair
- Please speak to the WRC organisers if something didn’t go as expected—we’ll do our best to help resolve it.
Your personal information
- If you provide personal details (like your name or contact info), the WRC will only use them for purposes related to the Watford Repair Café.
- The WRC uses your data in line with GDPR requirements, and you can ask us to delete your information at any time.
Let us know if you have any questions—and thank you for being part of our community!
